In a role originally slated for Ryan "Troublemaker" Idol, Mr. Ryker plays The Matinee Idol - a porn actor looking to go "legit." For the most part that's the plot of this popular entry from model-turned-director Gino Colbert. Ryker, as usual, is delicious. Whether mixing it up with muscular Jake Andrews or blonde uber-pup Christian Fox, Ryker knows just what to do and how to do it. His hair is a bit darker, he still has the occasional "woody" problem and isn’t quite the overly-bulked slab of meat that he later became. Still, he's no less appealing... and he still sports that famous monster shlonger of his.

In the "minor quibble" department (well, maybe not so minor) the original preview trailers shown months before its release teased everyone into thinking that Ryker was finally going to get buttplowed on-camera. I'm here to say... not! It was a pretty stupid stunt on the part of the studio; I guess they wanted big box office. Whatever.

It must be noted that Rob Cryston also really shines here, doing a great job working over Fox. Cryston sets the screen on fire in his coupling with Jim Bentley. Bentley has been around forever and this scene is a real testament as to why we never tire of him. Jim assumes the top role with ease and Cryston delights in being plowed.

Much hotter than it would have been had Ryan assumed the role, The Matinee Idol is well worth a second or third look (especially for fans of Ryker). It's probably even worthy of "keeper" status - depending on how big a fan you are.
