One of the great and infamous lesbian "breakthrough" films of the '60s, this engrossing drama charts the story of an aging lesbian who loses both her job and her kittenish girlfriend. Beryl Reid is magnetic as the cigar-chompping George (although she refused to do any sex or kissing scenes), Susannah York is her younger child-like lover and Coral Brown is the hard-driving executive on the prowl. An entertainingly dated tale of love and loneliness that treads a strange line between comedy and sensationalist, perverted drama. Some scenes were shot in the London lesbian bar Getaway Club. The film was released on video in the mid-1980s but has been out of print since until this re-release.
