Synopsis

The darkly sexy (and very tatooed) Viggo Mortensen shows all as he stands and stumbles in front of his brother in Sean Penn's stunning directorial debut about a pair of brothers.

Review

Maverick actor Penn takes his talents behind the camera with this stunningly realized character study centering on the stormy relationship between a highway patrolman (Morse) and his "loose cannon" of a brother (Mortensen). Though short on story, this loving tribute to the filmmaking of the '70s will reward the patient viewer with its detailed attention to time and place.
