The Beginning --Ellen walks onto the stage of The Beacon Theater in NYC to a rousing standing ovation from the largely gay & lesbian audience. Obviously, overwhelmed by feelings, tears show in the corners of her eyes. One realizes that Ellen DeGeneres is truly a hero to the community. The show is divided into six beautifully delivered monologues. The first skit involves the television show, her coming out, and the cancellation - and it is truly very funny. She also talks bugs, videotaping sex and a bizarrely politically incorrect tale of a woman pulled over by a cop while wearing a leather harness, a captains hat and a paddle! A wonderfully enjoyable evening for us and it appears for Ellen as well.

Here and Now -- After years of trying situation comedies, writing books and becoming the subject of tabloid "journalism", Ellen finally comes home to stand-up. Her second effort finds her even more relaxed than Ellen DeGeneres: The Beginning. The NYC audience at the Beacon Theater clearly worships this funny lady and it feeds her comedy. She jokes about being gay (surprise!), procrastination, rude cell-phone users and self-esteem. All matters great and small are subjects for stand-up and Ellen spares no one, least of all herself. Lots of fun from the leading gay comic!
