Synopsis

On a suburban street, Danny and Vic seize a young woman (Gemma Arterton). They take her to an abandoned, soundproofed apartment. She is Alice Creed, daughter of a millionaire. Her kidnappers have worked out a meticulous plan. But Alice is not going to play the perfect victim – she’s not giving in without a fight. Intense Mike Leigh regular Eddie Marsan and adorable young Scotish actor Martin Compston (best known to audiences by his starring role in Sweet Sixteen) play Danny and Vic, two gay May–December lovers who met in prison and attempt to pull off a kidnapping together. Their victim is Alice Creed (Quantum of Solace star Gemma Arterton) - the daughter of a millionaire. This simple premise sets the stage for an intense, minimalist thriller. With just a few evocotive locations and three capable performers, The Disappearance of Alice Creed delivers numerous edge-of-your-seat twists. We watch Vic (Eddie Marsan) and Danny (Martin Compston) prepare to kidnap Alice Creed (Gemma Arterton). They start by nailing boards on the windows and putting rubber on the walls and add locks before they get dressed as policemen, bring Alice in, tie her up and strip her down. And so the story begins. The two men had become friends in prison and actually their friendship evolved into a love relationship and we learn this little by little as the entire movie unfolds at a very slow pace and due to this we are plunged into a very tense situation and into a movie experience unlike others. This is a very dark film with many twists and incredible performances.
The crime is a thrill crime and as we begin with no dialogue for the first ten minutes, we have a strange feeling that this is not a regular crime movie. It is impossible to write much without giving something away so let it be enough to say that this is an original story with great performances that will make the audience squirm. Director J. Bakeson also wrote the script which is a mind game and should not be missed.

Good yarn! Tight acting!

I wondered how I would take to this little gem to begin with.
Sure its got a few holes in the storyline here and there but its got a few unexpected twists and turns that make you forget all about any weaknesses.
Turn on, tune in and go with the flow - I reckon its worth the journey
