The Destruction of the Moral Fabric of America is a big book; in fact it is five books in one. It presents a broad overview of the world we live in, but few people know about or experience.
The Destruction of the Moral Fabric of America is a fascinating story that contains law, politics, religion, sexuality, S/M, morality, history, philosophy, theory, biography, and murder all centered on events in Steven Toushin's life. The main story revolves around a 1989 federal obscenity trial in Nashville, Tennessee. Steven Toushin and his companies, Bijou Video and Slave and Master Films, were charged with the interstate shipping of four extreme S/M films. These charges originated out of Attorney General Meese's Commission on Pornography (Operation PostPorn). Background information for the trial includes Steven's correspondence with Guy Baldwin; an interview with Steven himself; Steven's theory on BDSM and the Sexual Future; making of the films; some history on sexuality, the prosecution of obscenity, the politics of pornography, the Lockhart and Meese Commissions on Pornography, and the RICO law.
The federal government's raid on Toushin's businesses leads to an extensive preparation for his defense. The defense preparation contains fascinating interviews with authors, activists and filmmakers from the SM and leather community, which were taken by Toushin's attorneys. Some of the people interviewed are Guy Baldwin, Tony DeBlase, Gayle Rubin, members of GMSMA, John Rowberry, Jim Ward, Geoff Mains, David Rosen and mental health experts Dr. Richard Green and Robert Stoller. Also included is the trial testimony of Park Dietz, a member of the Meese Commission, followed by the sentencing of Rosen and Toushin, and a conspiracy by the government to commit murder.
Interwoven into this spellbinding legal story are Steven's observations while in prison; his proposal for Certifying Masters, Mistresses, slaves, and Pro Dommes; and a chapter on Jeffery Dahmer who killed an employee.
