"This book is not about light or shadow, form or beauty, but as luck would have it, my every day. A fantasy of sorts, an opportunity to see, construct and manipulate a world that barely exists, and only for a second. What was once a hobby has become a passion...a secret stowed away in a trunk and kept in the dark. I can't write about it, I can't talk about it, but I can show you my thoughts as they reflect from the page. There are so many more photos that you'll never see...edited, cropped and burned for good, perhaps just as well...a reason to go on and do it again. if there's someone to thank, it must be the models...they allowed me to capture their youth from the distance of my lens and imprint it forever. So let me inspire, as I've been inspired, if only for a second." Lindsay Lozon from the afterword.
This is part of the Bruno Gmünder Greats series of handy sized versions of our favorite books.
Lozon is the classic among the newcomers. The range of his models moves from the youthful rebels to the pithy and earthy artisan. Lozon knows just how to capture the facets of male beauty, and without being offensively erotic, arrests the viewers attraction. It is his eye for the look that tells its own tales, for the body that is well shaped or for a pose that is provocative, which leads us subtly into temptation.

Grady Harp wrote on 04/16/2012:
Lindsay Lozon, the fine Canadian photographer, has captured the energy and zest of youth again in this book THE BOYS that continues his series. In this collection the models are all young and full of spice and Lozon knows just how to achieve poses that are not only well-devised but also that carry a hint of the erotic. How he can achieve that thin line between innocence and naughty is his secret and he does it as well as anyone in the business.
The quality of the photographs is clear and sharply focused and the `props' he chooses are in keeping with the personality the model conveys. At times the poses feel contrived, but even then the models' looks make up for any misjudgment of style. It is a fine collection. Grady Harp
