Synopsis

A compilation of mostly Latin American gay shorts. We're not really sure where the whole "straight" and "gay" thing comes from -- it's a compelling collection of gay male shorts.

Review

Space 2 (25 min)--A cruise between two hot men on a train that takes them into the brush and then one man get pushed away. You're given no clue as to why the man has been spurned. The camera follows the man who pushes away. He goes home to a nice apartment. Strips down and jerks off -- and it's real hot. His lover comes home and theres more to come in this excellent Latin American short film.
Truth or Dare (13 min) -- An innocent game of truth or dare among local village people turns that ends in rain sends a pair of secret gay lovers to their bed. Their discovery changes their lives and their families and friends.
In the Name of the Father (16 min) -- A truly shocking short film about family -- we can't tell you anything about the plot -- even one clue would be too much.
Uninhibited (4 min)-- A very cute film made by curator Jorge Ameer.
Popcorn & Coke (4 min) -- We couldn't make heads or tails of this one!
Coffee Date (16 min) -- This was a truly excellent ending to this collection of short films! Like a great blind date the conversation was sparkling and a friendship was begun.

Ok, so I am like another reviewer - I bought this collection cause I am a fan of short film compilations such as BOYS SHORTS and BOYS BRIEFS etc. This compilation was.... muddled. Not just the look of the films (ZERO production values) but also in the writing and acting. A few of the films have interesting premises (In the Name of the Father, Coffee Date) but the rest seem almost like the deleted scenes from longer better movies. And since Coffee Date is available as a feature film, maybe look at that one instead of wasting your time on this one.

In Latin cultures, a male who bottoms is gay. His top is not. The difference centers around penetration/masculinity complexities. Hence the title.

Most of these short films will be forgotten the next day, but In the Name of the Father will cast a haunting memory for a long to come. The last few minutes will be embedded in you, and thoughts of this movie will linger.

The first few shorts including Father hail from South America, so expect subtitles. I felt their shorts fared much better to their North American counterparts to say the least.

The packaging of the film may lure you to to buy it, but don't expect any qym queens in this one.

Very uneven quality, but worth it all for the satisfying feeling of Coffee Date and the incredible power of In the Name of the Father. It will knock you out!

I was drawn to this because of past film short series like Boys Life, Campfire, Boys Shorts to name a few. This set should not be allowed anywhere near the above. These are a group of films, all filmed in horrible quality film stock most of them grainie and a few out of focus or burned out. From the condition they must have been in some ones attic for the 10 years since they were made. If your looking for historic films I suggest you look elewhere they spent all the money on packaging and nothing on content RUN FAST FROM THIS MESS
