A startlingly intimate and revelatory documentary portrait of singer/songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins. A self-proclaimed omnisexual, Hawkins became a heroine in queer politics when she refused to delete the pronoun "her" from her huge hit song, "Damn, I wish I Were Your Lover." Filmed by her friend Gigi Gaston, the film follows Hawkins as she prepares for her 1996 cross-country tour and the release of her third album. In addition to the concert, rehearsal and interview footage their is much personal information uncovered. The camera is in tow as Hawkins returns to her childhood home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan to meet with her mother and confront her with long-repressed issues. A very honest portrayal of a fascinating woman and artist. Over 20 songs are featured in the film in rare concert and video footage. The DVD includes film from Sophie's recent Timbre tour and 3 music videos.
