Let me start by saying that I loved “Sex and the City” when it was on TV. I do not love the movies, however. Be that as it may, I am going to review this film without letting my dislike show (ha!).

It has been two years since Carrie Bradshaw finally bagged John "Mr. Big" Preston, the man she was always meant to be with. Just as her friend Charlotte must deal with her young daughter's "terrible two's", Carrie must deal with her relationship taking a turn for the worse - Big likes to watch old black-and-white movies on TV and eat take-out food, which prevents Carrie from feeling like the free-wheeling party girl she used to be. Meanwhile, Miranda copes with a new boss that can't handle an intelligent, powerful woman, and Samantha works a public relations angle that gets the fashionable foursome an all-expense-paid trip to Abu Dhabi and it is going to be a very long ride.

This is a 144-minute disappointment and I found it to be 144 wasted minutes. As much as I love the girls, the film did nothing for me.
“Sex and the City 2” begins with panache and good fun at the wedding of Stanford (Willie Garson) and Anthony (Mario Cantone). (I thought they hated each other). It is replete with a gay men's chorus in white top-and-tails crooning a tastefully low-key "Sunrise, Sunset," Carrie and Big in his-and-hers tuxes, and the girl-gang beaming best wishes for the happy couple and it is corny.
Then Liza Minnelli, as the rabbi, after a fashion, dances a number and looking like she has never looked before and that is not good. And the costume that she wore was all wrong.
On TV, the girl’s clothes were fabulous, the social pressures and professional ambitions intense, the names aggressively dropped, but at the heart of every episode were four friends who, while they could be competitive, judgmental and mean, could also be relied upon when it really counted to be loyal and supportive. The girls were great friends. It seems that now I am over all of this and obviously so is the city because we have to leave New York for Abu Dhabi. It’s supposed to be fun. We have had fun but this time I was bored and that is all I want to say.
