Review

When I wrote the review for Double en Jeu we received an email from Cadinot himself saying, "I loved the review but didn't understand half of it." My sentiments exactly about his films, and I wouldn't want it any other way. His stories, brilliantly thought through, are troublesome to follow without subtitles, but I wouldn't want him to ever think about pandering to stupid Yank tastes!

If you've never seen a Cadinot movie before Safari City is as good a place as any to start, but why haven't you seen one? OK, maybe you've been in solitary confinement of Devil's Island for thirty years and have just been released, or maybe you've been a castaway. But that really is no excuse.

This one of Cadinot's "uphill" films after his crap period of the early nineties. This is when he rediscovered his muse and started making films that were worth keeping again. It stars the absolutely gorgeous Jerome Galfion, a bit player in the still-unreleased-in-the-States S.O.S, who proved he was too talented a performer to get second billing to anyone. I understand he's now been snapped up by American porno makers, so to paraphrase Chancellor Palpatine speaking to young Anakin Skywalker - I'm watching his career with great interest.

We start as Forest goes shopping for clothes in a market and finds Galfion trying on sexy shorts. Before you can say "ooh-la-lah" the two are naked and French kissing frantically. Forest does his best but is sexed off the screen by Galfion's tanned tight body, huge uncut cock and... Jesus! Just see this movie! Galfion is one of the few bottoms that can out perform the top, yet Forest does his best to compete. And don't worry, Forest fares much better in the up-and-coming scenes! This amazingly hot scenario, complete with a soundtrack made up of the cries and shouts of the market traders - total genius - is the first of many, many treats in store for you.

Next up there's a relaxing scene where you can get your breath back (Shakespeare did the same thing, you know) as Elsinki, Forest and Del Montes get hot watching soccer players and head off to a secluded spot, their big uncut cocks springing out from under their shorts. Elsinki (who also helped write the music) ends up naked on Forest's car hood whilst his friends suck and fuck him. He then fucks Del Montes, straddles Forest, and then takes Del Montes again, after all have already climaxed once. What are these guys on? Cadinot's technique of eroticizing the condom finally proves that safe sex is the best sex, and should receive a standing ovation!

Most people would let the sex subside in quality but Cadinot isn't most people. Nexman, Galfion and Brovnik get into a totally pulse-racing three-way, their tongues snaking their way into each other's mouths in a way that's both hot and romantic. Galfion fucks Nexman, which is both searing and unexpected. Galfion chokes on Nexman's equipment whilst being taken roughly by Brovnik and then sucks both at once, before finally riding Nexman for completion's sake. This is a good time boy had by all! Don't touch your TV set for a few minutes because you'll burn your fingers.

Across town Chamfray flicks through a small book. Mao Tse Tung's Little Red Book? A Gideon's Bible? Who cares, because his pal Del Montes turns up and has got better ideas. The two megahung twinks kiss, lick and slurp their way to a fuck session, the two flip-flopping to a noisy climax.

Forest has been watching, and stops for a slash in a nearby pissoir (God bless the French for making tea-rooming so convenient!) where he attracts the attentions of hard-hatted overall clad Pavlov. The two head back to the privacy of his workcabin and hot Pavlov (you'll drool - and if you're an intellectual you'll get that joke) tongues every inch of his partner's body before fucking him gently, taking frequent stops to worship his fabulous cock. They flip-flop in another refreshingly cool sexathon that can only be topped by the next scene.

The tanned-tastic Galfion wanders through a liquor store (casing the joint for future robberies?) attracting the attention of edible black clerk Donatello. In one of the films most unforgettable sequences (and in this movie it's already hard to!) the pair indulge in some great anal-action that begins with nympho Galfion orally swallowing all of Donatello's mega-inches. The hot and sticky couple become one as Donny's meat plunges all the way up Galfion's boypussy. They stop for blowjobs before fucking once more, this time ending with a spooge-splurge that'll get you panting for more.

As you can tell, I have absolutely no idea what the plot is, but who cares? If Cadinot's people sent me a synopsis do you really think I'd read it? It's like discovering the lyrics to Ray of Light are "...And I feel like I just got home" when you've been singing "Anna Friel, well she just got stoned" or that Music's refrain is "Music makes the bourgeoisie and the rebel" when you've been humming "Music makes the boys wash me in the river" all along.

Galliac shows us his rollerblading moves, attracting the attentions of Boyer, wearing the clothes that Galfion tried on in the first scene. Is this symbolic or what? Chamfray turns up and all three head to the cabin owned by Pavlov. Once there the three get naked in a heartbeat, tongues exposed to willing mouths, uncut cocks, nipples and assholes. Forest, who's been roaming through this entire movie like a wanking Puck with a bad case of priapism, turns up, and all four get involved in a great scene that cuts every five seconds to reveal an even hotter shot than the last. I can't keep up with whom does what to whom; suffice to say you've never seen four guys so sexily redefine the concept of "versatility."

Galfion reappears next at the fairground, attracting the attentions of hunky dodgem car attendant Leone (who was insatiable in Insatiable), a horsehung guy with a big black dick. I can't begin to describe this scene and do it justice. Let's just say Leone was born to fuck and Galfion must be descended from contortionists. I can say no more - except it's one of the hottest, most fucking sexiest duos I've seen in a long time, and I sit through at least thirty pornos a week! When Galfion licks his joyjuice from Leone's chest - phew! You'll shoot into the stratosphere!

Forest is determined to win the porno-equivalent of frequent-flyer miles, as his "sad poet" good looks manage to charm the pants off Chamfray in a very short but sweet romantic scene, with Chamfray bottoming wonderfully.

Forest still isn't satisfied though - did someone lace his drink with something? Heading back to the market he manages to get into a shoe-shop threeway with clerk Richer and buddy Boyer. Boyer is a real oral slut, taking both at once before anally servicing them as well. Fabulous scene, but confusing as to whom serves whom the shoes! But if you're that sort of asshole who won't sleep at night pondering this, you should really tell yourself that it's the passion you should be paying attention to.

Forest locks up the shoe shop (hang on, wasn't he just a customer?) and has an argument and bitchslap session with Del Montes before the two decide to "give peace a chance" and have sizzling make up sex. Del Montes is a natural fucker, too, and when they both shoot as the movie finishes, you'll be hitting the repeat button to start all over again.

God bless the French. Their table-manners are revolting, but they just keep on making the best filth you'll ever see. Safari City was nominated for the 2002 GAYVN Best Foreign Film, and for some bizarre reason it didn't win. But it cannot be faulted as it was the third-step on a five-step ladder that saw Cadinot back on top as Europe's best gay porn director. Welcome back... we've missed you.
