Set amidst the gritty streets of a poor neighborhood in Naples, this explosive drama touches on such diverse subjects as homosexuality within the Catholic Church, pedophilia, sexual abuse and the corrupting influence of Camorra, Italy's organzied crime syndicate. Young Father Lorenzo (Bentivoglio) is a handsome idealistic priest who becomes involved with Nunzio, a 13-year old boy. Nunzio, an angelic singer and aspiring priest, sees in the priest the first person to support and love him. Their "relationship" is threatened when members of the Mafia, angered by the Priest's denunciations of them, send information about the affair to the police. Without moralizing, the film delves into the vastly different lives of the middle-class Lorenzo and the poor youth as they are thrown into the maelstrom of public scrutiny. (In Italian w/subtitles)
