Synopsis

When French factory worker Katie (Alexandra Lamy, Modern Love), a struggling single mother with a precocious 7-year-old daughter (Mélusine Mayance), falls in love with Spanish co-worker Paco (Sergi López, Pan's Labyrinth), they produce something truly extraordinary: an angelic baby called Ricky - who soon develops bumps on his back that looks suspiciously like... well, it's something that has the media in an uproar.

If two not so special people fall in love, will their lives be not so special? This is probably a fair conclusion but not the case when Paco fell in love with Katie. Directed by Francois Ozon, this is a love story with a twist. However this is also the first Ozon film that I am not gung-ho about. For some reason this film just does not work, at least not for me. Ozon made a fantasy film about family but his film relies on emotions but it did not hold up.
Katie is Ricky’s mother and when she found out that her new baby, Ricky, has wings, die takes it with nonchalance.
The movie tries very hard to be a family movie bit I am fairly certain that there are not many families that have a baby with wings.
I cannot say anymore without giving some of the plot away and I do not want to do that—I want you to judge for yourself.
