Synopsis

Jack E. Jett was best known in high school, in Texas, for having the best pot; he left college because the administration there deemed him too damn smart for the courses they had to offer; he moved to Los Angeles to become a punk rocker, ended up dating stars and writing movies, and, in the early '80s, became a well-known fashion model - gracing runways and print ads all over the globe.

It's tough to imagine - or maybe just divine coincidence - that Jack became the host of Q Television's Queer Edge with Jack E. Jett, a wildly popular talk show that delves into all definitions of the word "queer" with special guests, video features and celebrity guest co-hosts (recently and most-frequently the incomparably fork-tongued gay-goddess Sandra Bernhard).

With guests as varied as Alan Cumming, Kim Coles, Jane Wiedlin, Tab Hunter and the Barenaked Ladies to totally off-the-wall appearances from signing psychics, a guy who can strip while he's bouncing on a pogo stick and porn star Bridget the Midget, the show gained attention not only in America, but internationally.

All that may be due to the unique objectives with which Jett approaches every show. Yes, his interview style is zany and original, but it's still very informative. That could be due to his resume - which boasts nearly 1,800 hour of live television, including a stint as a fill-in host for the show Cheaters. Or maybe it's just his insatiable appetite for chatting with people who march to a different xylophone.
