Synopsis

Over the Rainbow features seven short films from four continents that tackle issues surrounding sexuality, sexual orientation and gender. Films include those from Brazil, Philippines, Russia, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the US.

A River Between Us, Brazil from director Sergio Andrade is about a young man who is unsure of his sexuality. On the other side of the world, Sigrid Bernardo's film Little is a touching and humorous look at the maturation of a provincial boy and his blooming romance. Petersburg Moscow, Russia by Dmitry Gribanoff introduces us to two young girls from the two cities who are falling in love. Cappucino, Switzerland from filmmaker Tamer Ruggli, is about a high school student whose life is brewing over his attraction to a classmate. Aleem Khan's Diana, United Kingdom, is taking place on the same day the Princess of Wales dies, as it follows an Indian pre-op trans person devastated by the news. Tracks, US, by Deana Williams is about two young black women who are falling in love despite their families' stern objections. And in Carlita, US, by Afdhere Jama, a gender-bending person refuses to be dismissed and will remind you of her name. Oracle Releasing has curated a collection of short films to stimulate the mind and entertain the soul - enjoy.

Oracle Releasing brings us a wonderful new compilation of seven short films from four different continents and they deal with the topics of gender, sexuality, identity and sexual orientation or preference. Represented are Brazil, The Philippines, Russia, Switzerland, The United Kingdom and the United States.

“A River Between Us” from Brazil is the story of a young couple who travel to a small island in the Amazon Basin and we become witness to the differences between urban and rural life. They also learn a great deal more about each other.

“Little” (The Philippines) is about masculinity, family and love as a boy matures into a man.

Jeremy, a shy teen, does not let anyone into his closet and keeps his homosexuality a secret in “Cappuccino” (Switzerland). He has a crush on a classmate, Damian. His life is on the verge of a major change.

“Diana” (United Kingdom) is set on the day after Princess Diana was killed in an automobile accident. Mohit a pre-op transsexual begins a journey that will cause many changes in her life. Her family has rejected her and so she works as a call girl in London in order to raise money to pay for her gender re-assignment surgery. With the loss of Diana she feels lonely and her connection with the princess is the catalyst that gives her the freedom to pursue who she really believes she is.

“Tracks” (United States) is about 18 year old Julie who ran away from and met Tasha, a 15 year old and within a week the girls establish a relationship. Julie tries very hard to cover up her loneliness and she fears that she will go through life never experiencing love. When Tasha flirts with her she finds a new life and the girls’ relationship can totally change both of their worlds.

“Petersburg Moscow” directed by Dimitry Gribahoff is a Russian film is a love story about two girls one from Moscow and one from Petersburg.

“Carlita” from the United States is the story of Carlita man but when he is a woman he is something else. We go on a day in her life and the one thing we must remember that whether man or woman, the name is Carlita.
