If you're looking for a nostalgic trip back to '90s romantic comedies, you could do worse.
The movie may have failed in its attempt to be the gay answer to My Best Friend's Wedding, but the guys are still cute - and that is at least a nice visual consolation.

Review

Valiantly attempting a screwball comedy in the style of The Philadelphia Story meets In & Out by way of My Best Friend's Wedding, this lame gay comedy fails on most counts.

To further his career, soap opera hunk Cliff plans to marry sweet society gal Cory, but Cliff is secretly gay (and in a longtime, secretive relationship with the best man). All hell breaks loose on the wedding day when Cory's best friend Liberty arrives with her lanky boyfriend (who does an annoying imitation of a bungling/stuttering James Stewart) and the question of who is gay, who is straight and who is going to marry who looms in the air.

If the film was made as a cable movie-of-the-week, one could mildly enjoy the characters (including the still lovely Valerie Perrine as the bride-to-be's mom and singer Deborah Gibson as a nosey photographer), but the tired plot, repetitive pratfalls that are not funny, flat acting and stagnant photography make this film more of a chore than a pleasure.

From Culture Q Connection is "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" which is due out on the 19th of September. Here is a comedy of errors in a true slapstick mode. Lame at times, it has several good laughs and stars Deborah Gibson. Cliff, a hunk who stars in a TV soap opera decides that in order to further his career, he should marry (even though he is gay and plans to wed Cory. a very sweet and somewhat innocent girl from the right side of the tracks. Cliff is also involved in a long term relationship with his best man. Now with that out of the way, we can concentrate on the shenanigans that will naturally ensue.
All goes awry when Liberty, Cory's best friend arrives to be maid of honor and brings along her tall, inept and clumsy boyfriend of the moment. Here begins the questions of who is straight, who is gay, and what is going to happen next. There is a great deal of slapstick and a fine performance by Valerie Perrine as Cory's mother. ( I wondered what had ever happened to her). I would not dare to call this a good movie. It is an escape and has some good lines so it has some good qualities. I just had a lot of trouble with some of the foolish "shtick" which instead of helping the film made it seem to be monotonous at times. Still I am glad I saw it and I do think it is worth a looking at.

If you've seen the movie "I Think I Do," then this one will be a disappointment for you. I found the plot to be weak, and the ending to be equally unsatisfying. One wonders why Wes wants to be with his partner Cliff, despite the fact that he is closeted so much that he's going to marry a woman. Cliff doesn't seem to be a very nice guy either. The other characters were annoying to me. They were either nasty or stupidly clumsy with few exceptions. If you're looking for a cute, romantic comedy, look elsewhere.
