The third film from our friends in Olympia gives us a murder mystery, a heady romance, gorgeous guys and plenty of nudity and sex!

Review

Those guys up in Olympia, Washington just keep on turning them out. For Murder in Portland, the formula remains the same: cute young guys, several sex scenes, plenty of nudity, a romance and pro-gay politics. There is still some wooden acting, but the script is better this time, as are the photography and editing.

Our film opens as Mike (Baumgartner), a mute 18-year old teenager is being thrown out of his house, deep in the country, by his Baptist minister father for being gay. He wanders on the roadside and a very butch lesbian hands him a dollar so that he can make his way by bus to Olympia. They apparently have very low fares in the Pacific Northwest. In Olympia, he wends his way to an antique shop owned by business partners, Grant (Ashley) and David. Mike writes that he needs money and Grant offers some odd jobs and a meal. Their relationship quickly turns lustful as these two sweet young men fall into bed naked. The two guys wander over to Proffitt's Café (the center of action in all 3 films) where the gossip mill is started in no time. The next day Grant's partner David shows up back from his buying trip and heads off quickly to Portland to scout for a new store location. While in Portland he is murdered with a trick by an unknown gay basher - hence the title and drama of our film.

Enter an incredible hottie, who is totally naked in the first scene with his girlfriend - he starts off straight in the movie, but we know he'll be sleeping with boys before the movie ends! This guy is a cop who is assigned to go undercover to reveal the murderer. Take a close look at the Police Chief, it's a cameo by writer Maurice Maxwell! This murder gives our filmmakers a chance to take us on a tour of the gay bars of Portland, Oregon including: lub Z, Joq's, Scandals, Gai Pied, Three Sisters, Eagle, Red Car Garage. The tour is lots of fun and includes a drunken strip-tease by our lusty soon-to-be gay cop.

There is a major attack on the Baptists, pro-gay cops, nudity, sex, tender romance and kissing - all this in only 99 minutes! Grab a bowl of popcorn, suspend your disbelief and enjoy...

OMG - I've seen dog fights better than this!!!

I have no idea who could have given this poor excuse of a film ANY kind of positive review. It was easily the worst piece of crap (& it took 3 viewings to get thru it) I've ever seen. The 3 viewings were due to friends finding the 'actors' (these guys give new meaning to the word awful) cute. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!

Holy Crap this was horrible, all these positive reviews have to be the cast and crew. No one in their right mind would enjoy something of such low caliber. This is one of those rare films in which the viewer should be compensated for watching. Horrid.

Good Movie

Lets first be real, this is a low-budget film ABOUT REAL PEOPLE, not the unbelievable hot hunks you see in porn movies. This is a charming movie and a believable story line. The acting for the most part was pretty good. I especially liked John Baumgartner who played the mute young man chased out of his home by his father, a Baptist minister. John did an amazing job conveying his feelings through his facial expressions. This isn't easy. If you are watching a movie just for the sexual tone of a movie, go by a porn movie. Yes the movie has flaws but for a low budget movie what are you expecting. This is a very brave and honest movie. Gone With The Wind it isn't, but neither 90% of movies coming out of Hollywood with supposedly top actor and directors etc. I'd rather watch this type of movie, with its flaws but overall good and positive gay people than the schlok that comes out of Hollywood. Congrats RAF, keep up the quality of the movies.

Sorry that "R Seletsky" didn't see this wonderful film in Boston. It was at the Kendall Theater in Cambridge several months ago. You'll find other TLA films there too, if you watch it. My friend saw it there and recommended it to me, as I am recommending it to others-- particularly gay guys.

Bad description

Again, I was very disappointed with the description given of what was in the movie. According to that it contained "plenty of sex and nudity". I counted 5 frontal nude scenes and a couple of butt shots. The sex in the other "Olympia" movies was much better. At least we saw some soft core sex. In this one, you even put Michael and Grant under covers! Best sex scene was between the gay cop and the bartender. Even then, no hard-ons! If I bought these movies for the wonderful acting, this one wouldn't be any different but no! It was disappointing!!
