Lucas Kazan obviously understands and loves Italy. He opens this sensational book ITALIAN STYLE with a double page view of Tuscany as the background for two perfectly sculpted men walking toward the camera. What a beginning, and a beginning that flows through this richly full color monograph of Kazan's signature male nudes - healthy, wholesome, perfectly created models who not only do not seem to fear the camera capturing their entire clothed and clothes-less beings, but indulge in it. These are models that seem to embody the sensuous spirit that is Italian. Kazan photographs them alone and together, at rest and at excited states, in beautiful interiors and on fields and mountainsides of sun-drenched Italy. And at the end of this book (just before the once again double paged view of Tuscany with the same men facing away from the camera, descending the hill, ending the journey to Italy) Kazan identifies each of the models in the book by name and with an accompanying photograph - a sign that the models and artists enjoyed a strong working relationship and an indication of the quality of Kazan's work. . This is very fine other view of Italy!
