Review

With a cast that seems to come straight from the pages of Details magazine, Inside Monkey Zetterland seems to care more about it's undeniably good cast rather than its story.

The film revolves around an ex-child star and writer (writer-producer Antin) whose lesbian sister (Arquette) has left her pregnant lover and moved into his house owned by their soap opera star mother. When radical terrorists come onto the scene, things start getting a little convoluted - both in the characters' lives and in the screenplay.

It does feature a few good performances, and has a quirky charm. Antin does an admirable job (and is way cute), Rupert Everett plays a gay activist who falls in love with Arquette's character, and Katherine Helmond is a hoot. But it's tough-talking Debi Mazar who steals the show: "You want your curtains? You want your fuckin' curtains?"

It works a lot of the time; other times it falls completely flat.
