Isolation, self-acceptance, trust, friendship, self-discovery, love and relationships are just a few of the themes in this sexy, heartwarming, sad and even chilling collection of shorts.
The collection begins with The Rules, Laura Black's seductive story about a lonely, bored housewife who gets in over her head in a phone sex game with a mysterious woman. The film won an impressive six film festival awards.
Hot girls kissing in a pool; what more could a girl want? How about love, acceptance and a sense of normality? Kelly Carpenter's film Dyke about two schoolgirls comes next in the collection and addresses themes of isolation, self-acceptance and trust. Kate releases Billy's inner desires, only to abandon her in the crazy world that she lead her into; can Billy survive this realm alone? All Billy wants is to fit in. Taken by the hand and left alone to face her fears, who is she afraid of?
Amy Bronson's Backstroke follows telling the story of two women, Rome and Julie, who end up in the same psychiatric ward a month after their relationship's sudden end. Julie learns that Rome has amnesia, and thus no recollection of their past relationship. The story unfolds to reveal the sudden end to the relationship between the two women and how Julie decides to deal with past and current consequences. Backstroke garnered two film festival awards.
Licorice, by Peter Scobie, next tells a story about a friendship that forms between a heart-broken fiancée and a lost teenage girl as they both discover the vast space in the NSW Blue Mountains and themselves. This coming-of-age drama shows us that there is a world beyond what we know.
The collection ends with Georgia Versluys' film Snap about a beautiful girl's life that is turned upside down when a chance meeting sends her spinning into inner turmoil. Should she deny her true feelings for the sake of common acceptance, or follow her heart to unconditional happiness?

"Girls' View 2" is a new collection of award winning lesbian short films and it is coming to us from Alluvial. Dealing with the themes of isolation, self-acceptance, trust, friendship, love and relationships, there is something here for everyone.
"The Rules" is about a lonely, bored housewife, Kyla who has become involved in a phone sex game with a mysterious woman, Melanie. Klya would like to have the relationship go further but Melanie refuses. When Kyla suggests ending the relationship altogether, Melanie suggests pushing the boundaries. As the fame gets wilder, both women learn some rules that should never be broken. Directed, written and produced by Laura Black, this film has gone on to win seven awards and it is a film that is completely different, a well crafted thriller.
"Duke" has been a finalist in two film festivals. It opens with two girls kissing in a pool and goes on to look at isolation, trust and self-acceptance. It also looks at the issue of fear.
"Backstroke" is the tale of Rome and Julie who find themselves in the same psychiatric ward a month after their relationship ended. Julie thought that Rome was dead but discovers that she is alive and has amnesia and no memory of their past relationship. As the film continues we see what caused their relationship to end and Julie learns to live and deal with the past and its consequences in the present. The film has won two awards and has been excellently received.
"Licorice" is about two lost souls, Julie, an obnoxious and deprived 15 year old who meets Nicole, 28, who just broke up with her boyfriend. Together they explore New South Wales. They form a fast friendship as they discover the area and each other and we see that there are worlds out there that have not yet been explored.
Finally, we have "Snap", an Australian film about a girl's life that is turned inside-out when a chance meeting changes her life. She must decide whether to accept her feelings or deny them for the sake of acceptance.

I disagree with the other review. Each film was so different from the next; for a collection I like that. Backstroke was my fav- so touching, and fantastic acting.
Bottom of the barrel festival entries

I for one have a fondness for short films. Having been a film major myself in college, I find a great deal of interest in viewing the work of otheres in this particular genre. While there are some great short film collections out there, I must admit-- this one is a letdown lacking any real substance. Yes there are some good ideas and there is a strong potential for better success in the hands of more gifted-filmmakers. But, overall this collection is a bottom of the barrel mish-mash of leftovers. I appreciate the endeavor of showcasing new talent and allowing them to be seen and grow in the industry. But at best, that is the one good thing I can say about this DVD. You are much more likely to see better short films on LOGO'S click list throughout the day!
