Synopsis

What starts out as a fun and adventurous fraternity pledge night, turns nightmarish when a killer clown terrorizes the brothers and pledges of Zeta Alpha Rho, killing them off one-by-one!

Locked down on a haunted gloomy island with no escape route, the ZAP pledges mysteriously disappear as a maniacal clown reaps personal revenge on the unsuspecting frat boys. Homophobia abounds as frat pledge Jack Jones (Tyler Farrell) must quickly formulate a plan to stop the devious clown, save his fraternity brothers, and find the courage to come out of the closet before the sun rises on doomed "Hell Island."

"Fraternity Massacre" is set in an amusement park as so many good horror films are. It is good fun as a spoof of the horror genre and very funny to boot. Taking place on Hell Night staged at Hell Island (Mud Island near Memphis), the plot concerns Jack (Tyler Farrell) a gay pledge who has kept his sexuality a secret from all except his boyfriend, a closeted fraternity member. On his Hell Night, Jack has a lot to worry about---the hazing that will come from the frat brothers and the fact that there is clown bent on murder on the loose. Together with this is the fact that Jack is also in the closet.
Slasher movies are somewhat homoerotic and this movie is doubly so being both a gay and horror film. Jack has had to listen to the guys boast of their sexual conquests all the while not being able to speak of his own. The movie also seriously looks at homophobia in the fraternity atmosphere (at least looks at it somewhat seriously). The fun of the movie is the way everything turns around and the ending is just wonderful.
Jack fights homophobia as well as a killer clown with little bloodshed. It seems that there are people who want the members of Zeta Alpha Rho dead and someone is actually murdering them one by one. Jack realizes that the clown s the murderer and must find a way to dispose of him and come-out before the sun rises after Hell Night.
A lot of bloodshed there isn't in the film but there are lots of laughs. It seems that Mark Jones knows a bit about being a gay fraternity member having been one when he was in college. His experiences undoubtedly influenced his script and the twists and turns of the film.
Now this is not a film to make you think and wonder. It is pure escapism and fun and this is something that we could use more of. I had a ball watching it and I am sure you will as well.
