If you're looking for terror and horror, look no further - the acting's terrible and the directing's horrible. The whole point of House of Usher is that it's meant to be set in a crumbling gothic pile, not a manicured mansion in West Hollywood. And how on earth can ghosts wearing sky blue boxers be the least bit scary? This makes Dante's Cove look like a truly big budget movie.

I enjoyed the movie, but the sound was really iffy. There were lots of places where it was difficult or impossible to actually hear the dialog. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to another DeCoteau feature, but it is hard to enjoy the movie when you can't actually hear what the actors are saying.

A Gay Update

Most of us remember Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher”. The new gay version is produced by Here! Films and directed by David DeCocteau. I have not yet received a DVD release date but we can expect it sometime soon. Simon Savory has taken Poe’s story and made it relevant to our community and while it does not rank as one of my favorite movies, it has a lot going for it such good looking men in various states of undress.
“Usher” is the story of Victor who visits his old friend Roderick Usher and his sister,Madeliene at their family estate which is decaying. Even stranger is that Roderick and Madeliene are decaying as well. Victor discovers that the only thing keeping the Ushers alive is a terrifying secret.
The plot is full of twist and turns and it is an eerie story from the first frame. The men are beautiful and sexy to say the least and this is the perfect movie if you are looking for light spooky entertainment. I cannot say anymore for fear that I may spoil it for you.
