Synopsis

Anora Fleece has got it rotten. Her husband is abusive, her children are disrespectful, and she lives in the middle of nowhere feeling like a nobody. Then Imogene Cochran moves into the neighborhood. Imogene sells Kathy K. Kosmetics make–up for the cocoa skinned woman. The neighbors don't like cocoa skinned anything, but that doesn't stop Imogene and Anora from becoming friends and, eventually, more than friends. When Anora's husband, Cheb, finds them, all hell breaks loose, but the tables are turned when Anora accidentally shoots Cheb dead. Anora and Imogene then pile the kids in the Kathy K. car, throw the corpse in the trunk and ride off on a "family" road trip to bury Daddy.

In this hilariously dark romantic comedy, a family overcomes its prejudices and insecurities with the aid of a friendly neighbor and some great beauty products.

Anora Fleese (gorgeous Laura Harring of Mulholland Drive) has a crappy existence. Beaten into submission by her abusive husband Cheb and treated like a doormat by her teenage children Tabby and Little Pete, it's no surprise that Anora's smile has disappeared — but at least she finds light relief in her vivid "fantasy man" dreams. When Imogene Cochran (Girlfriends star Jill Marie Jones) — a sassy "Kathy K." saleswoman peddling products for “the cocoa-skinned woman” in a community that isn't too keen on cocoa-skinned anything — moves in next door, Anora's life begins to change.

Hooting and hollering over caffeine, painting toenails and sampling hand cream, Imogene and Anora grow close —real close. And that's when all hell breaks loose. Before you can bat a Ms. Mascara eyelash, Imogene, Anora, Tabby and Little Pete are all piled into Imogene's purple car on a mission to get to Savannah, before the ice melts on the body in the trunk. Marvelously marrying the difficult subjects of racism, spousal abuse and sexism with fantasy, the film is whimsical and has a great sense of timing.

“Drool” is a ridiculously funny movie about a family overcoming its prejudices with the help of their neighbors and some beauty products, Anora Fleece’s husband abuses her and she lives somewhere near nowhere. Her life changes when Imogene Cochran movies into her neighborhood. Imogene is a cosmetics saleslady for Kathy K. cosmetics which caters to light African American women. There are no African Americans in the neighborhood and Imogene is the first in a place where she knows she is not wanted. The two women become friends but when Anora’s husband Cheb finds out about them, things get wild. Anora accidentally shoots her husband and she and Imogene put his body in the trunk of the car, collect Anora’s children and take off on a road trip to bury the man.
The film deals with touch issues in a comedic way and the beauty of the film is that it remains a comedy throughout. Laura Herring plays Anora to the hilt and Jill Marie Jones as Imogene is amazing. If you need a laugh here is a movie that will make you do just that.
