An inferior, lifeless remake of the 1954 classic French thriller. Stone and Adjani are teachers at a boarding school who plot and kill Adjani's tyrannical husband (Palminteri), the school's headmaster. They get away with it, but when the body turns up missing, it appears he may not be dead.

Nearly horrendous acting and pacing sink this faster than a water-logged corpse. And why Sharon is seen in Chanel couture and pumps (how many boarding-school types in Pittsburgh will really even notice?) is beyond us. Bates adds a little life as a detective investigating the disappearance.

Not even a hinted-at lesbian angle makes this of interest.
