Synopsis

Kyra Sedgwick stars in this Showtime film as Delia, an abused Georgia mother of two who abandons her family to start a new life as a singer with a rock band called Mud Dog but returns years later with a teenage daughter in tow to make amends to her two older children and try to win them back. Kevin Bacon, Sherilyn Fenn, Aidan Quinn, Jill Scott, Regan Arnold and Vanessa Zima costar in this adaptation of the novel by Dorothy Allison ("Bastard Out of Carolina") directed by Lisa Cholodenko ("High Art"). Review

Dorothy Allison's novel of a woman who moves back to the South to confront her past has been superbly adapted by writer Anne Meredith and director Lisa Cholodenko (High Art) for Showtime. Kyra Sedwick stars as Delia, a woman who moved to LA to escape an abusive husband and had to leave her 2 children behind. The man she left with became a rock star and they had a whole new life in California. When her husband dies in a car accident, Delia decides to return home to Georgia and deal with her abandoned past. Finding a dying ex-husband, a Jesus-freak daughter and people who hate her everywhere, Delia's got quite a challenge.

With an outstanding cast and excellent genre writing Cavedweller seems imbued with the South.
