Review

Released on DVD in May of 2004, I have no idea what "club" the title of this 1988 video is referring to. These boys are anything but bad; most are "take home and marry" worthy. In fact, there really isn't much of a plot at all, although the video certainly has its share of scripted dialogue (some which is delivered quite believeably).

The original press notes - which we're leaving for you to read after this review - mix up some models (Davenport and Ross do not have a scene together) and refer to some club which is not in the film, unless a steam room and shower can be considered a club. Regardless, there are a few scenes here which are really quite hot.

Film opens during the credits as the hunky Davenport and the long-haired very-chickenesque Blair are backpacking. (I'll assume the mis-credited Todd Cox is Blair.) They stumble across blonde cutie Williams jerking off on a mountain bluff. Later that night as Davenport and Blair are sleeping in their tent, Davenport starts stroking his thick and totally delicious-looking pole. He wakes up Blair, asking him if he's ever touched another guy's dick. Soon Blair is having his first taste of dick. (Lucky prick gets Davenport for his first time!) Highlight: Davenport coercing Blair to take it up his hole, and giving the young guy a taste of condomless pole riding. In my opinion this is the film's best scene, and is worth the purchase.

Back home, Davenport (stripped to the waist and wearing very tight jeans and Nike's) tells his tale to Henson. Henson talks about an incident he had at the local Y. He leaves to take a shower as Davenport drifts off on the sofa, conjuring up a scorching scenario between him and Henson. Soon Mike's spike is driving up the versatile Davenport's tight ass. Another great scene worth seeing.

Ross and Williams are up next, both cooling down and heating up in a sauna. Here's where the film loses a bit of steam (pun not intended). Williams is always a reliable performer, and he does a good job here. It's just not up to par with the first two hardcore scenes. Neither is the threeway shower gang-up with Marino, Tanner and Weiler. (Note: The latter two are credited on the DVD cover but not in the film's credits.) A short fight breaks out before the sex, and was the most interesting part of the scene for me.

Brown haired smooth muscled hottie Eric Radford closes the flick with an inexplicable yet undeniably hot solo in a bed. What this has to do with the rest of the film, except to possibly pad out its running time, is beyond me. But a gander at Radford is always worthwhile.

Direction is credited to videographer Cameron Leight. Now whether he was an actual protege of William Higgins or is in fact Higgins himself I cannot say. (If you know for sure email us.) It feels different from Higgins in that none of his patented massive facial and oral cumshots are here, although some of the loads - notably two from Davenport - are thick and creamy.

The DVD transfer is quite good, and most of the dirt has been cleaned from the print. Williams' outdoor solo and the nighttime tent scene between Davenport and Blair (though dark) translates excellently. There are five trailers for other Catalina titles, an extended group scene of Jared Wright, Mike Vespa, Hank Hightower and Joshua Scott in Thrill Me!, and a gallery of actual vintage stills (not screencaps) from Bad Boys Club that look great.
