Short the feature to a hour and it could go on TV. A PG13 short story, that is short on character development. If the father is a recovering alcoholic why is the Jack Daniels Bottle on the diving room table. David and his two friends are gay, who cares. The modestly naked Buck in the shower, who cares. The quickly slapped together narrated ending, while we look at a lake, who cares. The issue is returning vets, this wasn't the way to show their ordeals coming home. Love the Vets, hated the movie.

This movie says what a lot of us are feeling. It supports America and our troops. There are two lead gay characters, which is nice seeing positive, strong, inspiring gay characters in films, since there are a lot of us conservative homos out there that are not usually represented in movies. This movie finally hits the nail that we should be supporting our returning soldiers. This is clearly not a plug to support the war -that is ridiculous. It does support this Marine's choice to fight for freedom, and that is why I respect the filmmakers and how they present it. Great job, guys! My military friends appreciate it. Finally an accurate story on how some of these guys feel.

If you want to see a very long, weakly written, poorly acted, misdirected film that seems to imply that the proper role for gay boys is take care of the war wounded - the "real" heroes - then this is the film for you. If not, don't waste your money, and more imporantly, your time. I know this is harsh, but I really couldn't find one redeeming quality about this movie. :(

Screenwriter/director Jeff London proves that he's not learned a single thing about movie making since the absolutely awful "Arizona Sky." This time he couches his lame story line as a jingoistic patriotic film. Don't let the praise on the box cover fool you, this film is absolutely horridly written, directed and acted. Three boos to Mr. London. Please learn to cook or something else, but it's time to give up on film making. Never again will I be tempted to purchase (or see) a Jeff London film.

This movie, though well intentioned, turns out to be a jingoistic diatribe that is insulting to anyone who is not pro-war, pro pre-emptive military action (where the hell are those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?), pro-military (despite the heinous crimes that are often committed) and pro foisting of American ideals (that upon closer examination are somewhat tarnished) upon peoples of other nations. Yes, the American people owe a debt of gratitude to our soldiers and our veterans, and a lot more help when they return home than they are often given, but we do not owe them or the military establishment unrelenting approval. There are some powerful performances here, but I don't like the message. Basically, the movie says that if you don't approve of everything the military stands for and does, shut up, and that is insulting and annoying to anyone who has a different opinion. The only reason I can see that TLA is offering this movie in the gay listings is that it has two (three?) gay characters who could just as well have been eunuchs in a harem.
