Fear: Ally Sheedy stars in this intriguing suspenser as a psychic police consultant who meets her match in a nefarious serial killer (is there any other kind?) who shares her mind-reading capabilities. This made-for-cable thriller should be appreciated by mystery fans for its taut scenes of mental cat-and-mouse.

Parents: First-time director Bob Balaban serves up a wild postmodern feast that may leave you with a bad taste in your mouth but a grin on your face. Young Bryan Madorsky discovers his Ozzie and Harriet parents have a terrible secret and it's hardly appetizing. Not for everyone, but if you prefer your filmmaking adventurous, give it a nibble.
