Synopsis

“Daydream” is one of those films that has everything going for it but length. It is beautifully photographed, it is elegantly written and it is capably performed. However it is little more than an hour long. I could have sat and watched more but it just was not there.
“Daybreak” is about William, a married man who had once had an affair with JP, a boatman but they have not seen each other for quite a while. William takes a drive up to JP’s family’s vacation home and they spend the night together. Being alone the two men are forced to face the realities of their relationship and the fact that what they have had can no longer continue. The fact that the two characters are men is really irrelevant. The movie is not so much about being gay but about ending an affair. The men just happen to be gay and the film concentrates on the love between them.
This is not an easy film to judge because it is so well made but it just ended. Something seems to be missing in the story and it is hard to decipher what that is, Adolfo Alex Jr., the director gives us wonderful direction and with just two actors this is quite difficult to do. Coco martin and Paolo Rivero bring great life to their characters by using restraint and they are what make the movie so special.
