Somewhat episodic in structure, the film centers on two childhood friends (Heche, Keener) as one is about to marry and the other fears she is incapable of long-term commitment. Through many layers of miscommunications, hang-ups and obsessions, the film wanders the paths of each woman's personal growth as she attempts to bring order to a chaotic and often baffling world. The film's forgiving nature towards its characters' idiosyncracies encourages tolerance towards an uneven script and some awkward dialogue, ultimately resulting in an amusing and endearing examination of young adult life.
