An intriguing espionage thriller, based on John Le Carre's novel. Connery plays a down-on-his-heels London publisher who is unwittingly thrust into political intrigue when a top secret Russian manuscript is sent to him. At the insistence of the British Secret Service, Connery travels to Moscow to uncover the story and its writer. Pfeiffer, complete with accent, ably plays the Russian liaison with whom the reluctant spy falls in love. As a spy story, The Russia House is at its best; but the romantic angle between Connery and Pfeiffer, though handsome, is not always believable.
