Butterfly Kiss
Amanda Pummer joins the ranks of film's most notorious lesbian killers in this disturbing and hypnotically black psycho/comedy. Obsessed with Judith, the only woman to have really loved her, Eunice (Plummer), a tough North of England lass, goes on a bloody search for her. On the way she meets, captivates and seduces a female gay station attendent (Saskia Reeves) who quickly becomes her accomplice. An intelligent, quirky tale that will sure to upset some and entrance others.

Watermelon Woman
This, the first African-American lesbian feature film, is a fascinating, effervescent tale of love discovered and history uncovered. Director Dunye plays an aspiring filmmaker (and current video store employee) who becomes obsessed with an African-American actress from the 1930s and '40s -- a beautiful and seemingly intellgent woman whose roles were limited to "mammie"-type characters. Along Dunye's seach for more information on the real woman, she finds love (or is that simply lust?) in the arms of a white woman, further complicating her life. Low budget yet ambitious, intelligent and entertaining.

Peach/Bitter Song - Fans of Lucy Lawless, the magnetic star of TV's "Xena: Warrior Princess" should enjoy these two short films both made in her home country of New Zealand. Peach (1995) is a quiet story of muted lesbian desire in which a young Maori woman -- a mother who lives with a good-for-nothing boyfriend -- becomes attracted to Lawless, who plays a sensuous, mysterious and alluring tow truck driver. The second short, A Bitter Song (1990) revolves around a Greek-New Zealand girl who is hospitalized. Lawless is the stern nurse attending the child. The second short is not lesbian themed.
