Costner plays the title character to Houston's big, big movie star in this idiotic romantic thriller. When she is plagued by death threats, Houston's manager signs on rambling man Costner, tops in his profession, but who never stays in one place too long (he's probably in constant search for a good barber). At odds from the beginning, Costner and Houston become enraptured with each other, leading to an inevitable fling. It won't take long to figure out who hired the hit man. There's a good lake-side sequence, but nothing else in the film nears the level of its short-lived excitement. In her film debut, Houston is in her element vocally, but her acting -- as with the movie -- is simply nothing out of the ordinary.
