Written, directed and starring Goldthwait, this story of a drunken, down-on-his-luck clown drags a bit, but delivers some good laughs. Set in a semi-surrealistic town populated by all types of unemployed, has-been clowns, Goldthwait is a "good clown" whose love of booze eventually complicates him in a murder. The plot, however, comes secondary to the film's frantic, hit-or-miss style. Yes, the story itself is not very interesting nor well-constructed, and some of the scenes and main characters are decidedly unfunny. But overall, a funny little oddity. Williams steals the film as a fey yet militaristic mime instructor.
