Review

Actress Carrie Fisher's first attempt at screenwriting is this breezy comedy based on her true-life battle with alchohol and drug abuse. Streep and MacLaine are fabulously funny as the struggling Hollywood daughter and her aging celebrity mom. Fisher's screenplay deftly confronts the serious side of substance abuse while not straying from her comedic intent.
