Episodic look at matters of the heart through different couples, from enduring to maternal to puppy love. With so many different story lines, it's hard not to play favorites, and here Phillippe and Jolie's mutual seduction is memorable, with his brooding fiercely complemented by her vibrancy (note to actors: you'll always be upstaged by dogs, babies, and Angelina Jolie). It's so much fun to see these actors at work (and in such brief bursts) that it's easy to overlook how soapy and unimportant it all is.
