- Pier Paolo Pasolini
Pier Paolo Pasolini
The radical communist filmmaker behind Salo and The Decameron began his career as a poet and blossomed into one of the most revered Italian directors of all time. Pasolini produced a wealth of resonant philosophical and political masterpieces – and was even tried for offence to the Italian state after creating much controversy - until he was allegedly murdered under suspicious circumstances at the young age of 53. We highly recommend Love and Anger, Mamma Roma, The Gospel According to St. Matthew, Teorema and The Hawks and the Sparrows.
