In this pretentious and ridiculous eco-thriller, Seagal's P.C. action hero asks several questions, such as "What is the essence of a man?" and "How much wealth is enough?" He should have been inquiring how to make a movie. In his directorial debut, Seagal plays a born-again environmentalist who takes on his former boss, an evil oil magnate (Caine). But the best director Seagal and his writers can muster are one-dimensional heroes, cardboard villains, and a predictable story line. As an actor, Seagal couldn't be more wooden if he were a totem pole.
