Review

Classic '50s sci-fi chiller about pod people taking over the bodies of a small California community. Director Siegel's low budget belies the film's extraordinary composition and unrelenting tension. Some at the time saw this as an allegory for Communism in the 1950s, but that notwithstanding, this is great genre filmmaking. (Remade in 1978 with its original title and in 1993 as Body Snatchers)
