An Academy Award winner for Best Foreign-Language Film, Indochine is a beautifully photographed and evocative love story set during the French colonization of Indochina. In a rapturous performance, the stunning Deneuve stars as the dowager of a successful rubber plantation. Though a strict foreman, she has an especially loving relationship with her adopted, Indochinese daughter (well played by Pham). Against the backdrop of social upheavel, their worlds collide when they both fall in love with the same man, a handsome French soldier (Perez). A poetic epic which balances romance and politics with equal finesse. (French with English subtitles)
