Review

On their wedding anniversary, Curtis and Pollak announce to their two children their intent to separate. Their seventh grade son Grover (Howard) decides to take radical steps and locks them in the basement in an attempt to force them to resolve their problems. Some neighborhood kids find out about the lock-up and force their parents to join the prisoners, creating a house of juvenile delinquents upstairs and disgruntled adults downstairs. Though the film has a certain charm and the cast is quite engaging, House Arrest is too long, the ending is too pat, and there's not an abundance of funny scenes to overcome the story's banalities.
