- Gerard Butler
Gerard Butler
Blessed with leading-man looks but possessing a taste for the independent and offbeat, it took over a decade for Gerard Butler to achieve stardom in 2004's The Phantom of the Opera. Shortly thereafter, he buffed up and became the ultimate Greek action hero as King Leonidas in 300. It's enough to make you forget that Butler is a Scotsman who got his start on stage and in quiet projects like Mrs. Brown. His first lead in the US was in Wes Craven's Dracula 2000, and he also played Attila the Hun in a miniseries, proving his skill at playing larger-than-life characters. So much so, that you might not recognize him in a domestic role in the thriller Shattered.
