Review

Director Soderbergh returns to his independent roots for this self-indulgent long take about Hollywood and its players. Shot on video with little of the command that he demonstrated with both his Hollywood hits and indie gems, Soderbergh's tedious tale follows the intersecting lives of a group of actors working on a movie. It's told in a documentarylike narrative, and also features scenes from the film (called Rendezvous) the cast is making. Keener and Katt (who gives a hilarious turn as Hitler in a play called "The Sound and the Fuhrer") offer solid portrayals, but it's not enough to compensate.
