Trying to capture the same sense of silly fun that made George of the Jungle such a hit, this amiable comedy -- based on another Jay Ward cartoon -- certainly gets the silly part down. With the same toothy enthusiasm he brought to George, Fraser is Dudley Do-Right, that luckless Canadian Mountie who forever is being outsmarted by that dastardly villain Snidely Whiplash (Molina who is clearly enjoying himself). The story, which is backseat to pratfalls and goofy shenanigans, has to do with Snidely faking a gold rush so that his town can reap the rewards. Only Dudley can stop him -- or can he? Director Wilson breaks the fourth fall much in the same way George did, and has his cast performing lots of crazy stunts. There are quite a few laughs, most at the expense of Dudley, but the silliness ratio becomes a little too high after a while.
