Christopher Bram
Christopher Bram is one of the best gay American authors of the 20th century. Born in Buffalo, New York in 1952, Bram was a paperboy and Eagle Scout. In 1974 he received his B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary and in 1978 he moved to New York City.
Bram has published 9 novels and in 2009 he published his first collection of non–fiction, Mapping the Territory.
He is perhaps known best for his novel, Gods and Monsters, about film director James Whale. Bill Condon adapted the novel for the screen and the result was the Academy Award winning film, Gods and Monsters starring Ian McKellen and Brendan Fraser.
Bram was a Guggenheim Fellow in 2001. In May 2003 he received the Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement. He currently resides in New York.
