Women directors, often, get a bad rep. But, Catherine Breillat is more than ok in our book. She has consistently shocked her arty audiences with merciless depictions of rape, explicit sex and naked girls who are often more than a bit shy of their 18th birthdays. In Fat Girl, a 15-year-old is raped while her little sister is forced to watch. A Real Young Girl is so disturbingly sexy that it was banned for 25 years and both Romance and Anatomy of Hell feature legendarily sadistic porn star Rocco Siffredi who treats his leading ladies appropriately like cuts of meat. If more women were pervy the way Catherine is, the world would be a much more stimulating place.
