This hysterical horror spoof from first-time director Jackson, who would go on to make the gorefest Dead Alive and the critical success Heavenly Creatures, is about a group of paramilitary investigators who are the first line of defense against an attempted alien invasion of the Earth. The members of the team, including Jackson himself, must thwart an attempt by these "intergalactic wankers" to harvest the latest universal fast-food sensation: human flesh. Many horror and action clichés are sent up in the meantime and the body count and amount of gore make the film live up to its title in every way. It is funny as it is gross. Bad Taste is essential viewing for anyone with a strong stomach and a rowdy sense of humor.
