Review

After the disaster of September, Allen turns yet again to Ingmar Bergman territory with this complex examination of a woman (Rowlands) whose lifelong resistance to her passions is shattered when she accidentally overhears the confessions of a therapy patient (Farrow). Though not as subtle as Interiors, the film is a complete success thanks to Rowlands' remarkable performance, and the efforts of a powerhouse cast.
