What do white working-class American men, aging rockers, Australian side-car racers, Latino men, Native-American people and lesbians all have in common? Why, the simple answer is the "mullet"! For those of you in the dark, the mullet is the unbalanced hair style that is short in the front and long in the back (i.e., the shlong), or as one mullet adherent described it, "business up front, party in the back" This very funny new documentary explores the people behind the much maligned haircut. The mullet cultist filmmakers went on the road in a "mullet mobile" – a minivan decorated with a mullet insignia – in search of people with the haircut you either love or hate. They interviewed dykes, bikers, doctors and even a country music DJ. They spoke with a mullet wearer's mom and her stylist, all with tongue firmly planted in cheek! We see opposing sides in the great mullet debate, hearing one hair stylist declare, "If they want a mullet, let them see someone else." Fun, intelligent, affectionate (if sometimes hilariously vicious) and very well made, American Mullet is the ultimate documentary on a unique hair phenomena that just won't go away!
