Sir Alan William Parker is an English film director, producer, writer and actor. He has been active in both the British film industry and Hollywood and was a founding member of the Director's Guild of Great Britain. Parker started out in the advertising world and later began to write his own television commercial scripts. His film career began through his association with producer David Puttnam when he wrote the screenplay for Melody. Puttnam would later produce a number of Parker's films including Midnight Express Parker is best known for his directorial work on quirky musicals sucks as Bugsy Malone, Fame , Pink Floyd The Wall, The Commitments, and Evita.
